in the News... BUNDESBRIEF POSTER AWAREDED TO US AMBASSADOR TO SWITZERLAND

US Ambassador to Switzerland is recipient of Bundesbrief Poster at ceremony in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The 6th annual LUCERNE SUMMIT 2024 welcomed U.S. Ambassador Scott C. Miller and over 35 business leaders to Lucerne. It was hosted by Susanna Auf der Maur-Quinn, US Desk Director at Kaufmann Rüedi Attorneys at Law Ltd Attorneys at Law, and sponsored by Director Ivan Buck of Lucerne Business, Director Adrian Derungs of Industrie- und Handelskammer Zentralschweiz IHZ and Kaufmann Rüedi Attorneys at Law Ltd Attorneys at Law.

This years's Summit included a presentation of the famous "Bundesbrief Poster" to Ambassador Miller by Susanna Auf der Maur, Vice President of the INTERNATIONAL BUNDESBRIEF SOCIETY INC, and the Honorable Federal Justice Marcel Maillard Tribunal fédéral suisse TF, who is also an honorary member of the Bundesbrief Society.

The LUCERNE SUMMIT provides a discussion platform for international companies in central Switzerland, as well as Swiss companies with a presence in the US. Many thanks to Sandor Galambos and the US Embassy Team in Bern. It was a celebration of prosperity, democracy, liberty and being a "good neighbor" focusing on the importance of community engagement by companies.

* The Federal Charter (Bundesbrief) is Switzerland’s oldest constitutional document, in which the central Swiss communities Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden pledged to help each other resist threats of violence and injustice. With this document, they laid the groundwork over 728 years ago for the democratic nation now known as Switzerland.

Our Exhibition in Switzerland for 175th

For the 175th anniversary of the Swiss Federal Constitution, the Obwalden Institute for Legal Research, together with the Bundesbrief Society , Kaufmann Rüedi Rechtsanwälte and the University of Lucerne, organized an exhibition of the German version of the US Articles of Confederation. On Thursday, November 16, 2023 a copy of the original 1778 German-language version archived by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania was digitized and released specifically for this year's national constitutional celebrations. The focus of the festive event on November 16, 2023 at the University of Lucerne was the celebration of the common democratic and constitutional heritage of the USA and Switzerland.

Bundesbrief Society awards coveted Bundesbrief Memento to US Embassy, Deputy Chief of Mission, Bern Switzerland; Eva Weigold Schultz.

Date: May 2, 2022 Location: Basel, Switzerland

Eva Weigold-Schultz, US Embassy's former Chargé d'Affaires in Switzerland, was gifted by Susanna Auf der Maur - Quinn (VP International Bundesbrief Society) with a copy of the Bundesbrief for her dedication to democracy at Swiss Biotech Day during an international reception.

Eva Weigold Schultz began her assignment in Bern as Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2019 and led the mission as Chargé d’Affaires from January 2021-January 2022. Previously, she served in the Office of the Secretary of State as Deputy Executive Secretary where she managed the flow of information to the Secretary for policy decisions and led planning for the Secretary’s international travel. Ms. Weigold Schultz is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. Prior assignments in Washington include Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs, Deputy Director for the Office of the Arabian Peninsula in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Executive Director of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council (while on detail to Georgetown University), and Director for Andean Affairs at the National Security Council. Overseas assignments include Tel Aviv, Dublin, Frankfurt, and Kingston.

She is now returning to Washington where she will be the new Dean of the Foreign Service Institute. https://www.state.gov/bureaus-offices/under-secretary-for-management/foreign-service-institute/ The Bundesbrief Society extends her best wishes and is grateful for her continued service in support of the mission of the Society to promote democracy, constitutional liberty and scholarship on those topics.

Presentation to USA Ambassador to Switzerland of famous Bundesbrief Poster

Bundesbrief Society President, Jim Scherrer, recently presented USA Ambassador to Switzerland, Susan LeVine, the famous Bundesbrief Poster at their recent meeting at Domaine de Penthes, Museum of the Swiss Abroad, Geneva.

Award Given by Bundesbrief Society to Ambassador Dahinden

In October 2015 three members of the Society attended the installation of the new Honorary Consul of Delaware, Mario Brossi, by the Swiss Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Martin Dahinden.

The Bundesbrief Society participated in the formal part of the otherwise informal gathering as the presenter of an award to Amb. Dahinden. The three Society attendees were Vice President Franz Portmann, Ron Duquette (aka Albert Gallatin) and President Jim Scherrer.
